Hyundai unveiled its highly anticipated ConceptGenesis Coupe during a press conference at the Los Angeles International Auto Show. The concept car heralds the introduction of an all-new, rear-wheel drive 2 + 2 sports coupe scheduled to join the Hyundai lineup in the spring of 2009. Following the introduction earlier this year of the Concept Genesis sedan, Concept Genesis Coupe signals Hyundai’s second step in broadening its appeal to driving enthusiasts.
According to Motor Trend GM executives have been planning the next-generation (C7) Corvette since 2007 and have considered front-, mid-, and rear-engine layouts. The car was originally planned for the 2011 model year but will likely launch as a 2012 model. It may be delayed further, depending on the scope of upcoming CAFE regulations.

The C7 will reportedly feature a new next-gen small block from GM that will include technologies like direct injection, aluminum block and heads and a revised combustion system. The engine will retain the class pushrod configuration and will be reduced in size to only 5.5L. Despite the smaller displacement, the new V8 will produce more horsepower than the current LS3. Currently estimates put the horsepower at 440 hp. The engine for the C7 will be part of the new $890 million small block engine program that will be used in vehicles across the GM lineup.
General Motors has cancelled the planned replacement for the GMT900 SUVs.
The automotive press has speculated that the Escalade nameplate may move to the Lambda crossover platform.

The Lambda based Cadillac will still go into production however, to compliment the new Escalade.
On February 13, 2010 according to a report on Autoblog.com, GM has reissued an redesign on the GM fullsize SUV lineup, including the Escalade, for a 2013 release due to increased SUV sales.
The Cadillac XLR-V is the high performance version of the Cadillac XLR. It was first introduced in 2005. It is the successor to the Cadillac Allanté, produced from 1987 to 1993.
Cadillac gave the public its first glimpse of the XLR-V in its Super Bowl commercial, which aired February 6, 2005. Super Bowl MVP, Deion Branch was also awarded an XLR. The car was formally introduced at the 2005 New York International Auto Show.
The XLR-V uses the same Northstar V8 as the STS-V, though output is down somewhat. For the XLR-V, the engine is certified by the SAE to produce 443 hp (330 kW) and 414 lb·ft (561 N·m). The supercharger and four intercoolers are built into the intake manifold. A six-speed automatic transmission, larger brakes from the Z51 Corvette, and 19-inch wheels will also be used. The XLR-V can accelerate to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds according to Car and Driver's tests. The magazine also timed it at 11.3 seconds to 100 mph (160 km/h) and recorded a 13.0 second quarter mile at 110 mph (177 km/h). Its top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph (249 km/h).
The XLR-V was introduced in the United States in early 2006 for a base price of $98,000 dollars.
Hyundai Motor Co. on Wednesday announced a voluntary recall of its new Sonata sedan, its most important new model this year, in South Korea and the U.S. to fix faulty latches on the vehicle's front doors.
The action—which affects 46,000 cars in South Korea and 1,300 in the U.S.—came after customers in the U.S. complained that, in certain circumstances, the latch gets stuck after the door is opened and then can't be closed.
A company spokeswoman said the problem happens when a passenger simultaneously pulls the door latch and holds down the lock, an unusual circumstance but common enough to send the company scrambling for a fix.
There have been no accidents or injuries reported to the company in connection with the problem. But it came at a time of increased scrutiny on vehicle flaws, shaped mainly by troubles at Toyota Motor Corp., the world's largest auto maker by vehicle sales. That company in recent weeks has been forced to recall several models to deal with quality issues. Toyota President Akio Toyoda was set to appear before U.S. lawmakers Wednesday.
Shares in Hyundai Motor fell 2.6% on the Korea Stock Exchange after news of the recall emerged. Some analysts said they believed investors overreacted and that the financial impact of the recall would be minimal.
Many would consider Hyundai to be a novice in the sports car segment and rightly so- they are new to this field. The brand can’t be expected to deliver the best and be in competition with the high players for another couple of years. May be in the next decade, they will be one of the decent competitors. Most would think the above things and would be wrong because it sure looks like Hyundai did their homework and only then came up with the 2007 Hyundai Tiburon. This sports car coupe base model comes in less than $17,000. Surprised? So were we. An unbelievable price for a sports car. But what is more unbelievable is that it actually is not a bad model at all and delivers more than it promises. The Tiburon is very new and is also a very big threat to the big boys. They better buckle up. The car looks like a typical sports car- just what the market wants. The body is nice and rounded and gives an impression of being really smooth- which it is. The side lines are rakish in style- not so structured and it adds to the appeal of the sports car. Next up, let’s talk about the engine. It has a regular V6 engine and gives about 172 HP. Not bad at all. The suspension is really remarkable and the handling so smooth and easy, it beats the competition big time. The interiors are also done up in style. The indicators are all in a stylish blue light and the rear view makes you feel like you are in a sports car.
